The Park District of Highland Park is set to open Club Pickle & Padel, a new 50,000-square-foot indoor sports facility at 2205 Skokie Valley Road, on September 2. The venue will provide year-round opportunities for pickleball and padel, addressing a longstanding request from the community for more indoor pickleball courts.
Replacing an approximately 25-year-old seasonal dome, the new climate-controlled air structure is designed to offer consistent playing conditions regardless of weather. Features include advanced LED lighting and layouts accessible to players of all skill levels.
The project was made possible through significant support from Ron Saslow, founder and managing partner of Thirty-5 Capital. Saslow grew up in Highland Park and participated in many Park District programs as a child. He said, “Pickleball brings people together in a way few other sports can. It’s inclusive, easy to learn, and fun for all ages. I’m proud to help make Club Pickle & Padel a place where this community can connect and play every day.”
Thirty-5 Capital invests in professional sports teams and technology-driven sports companies (https://www.thirtyfivecapital.com/). Saslow’s proposal for redeveloping the dome site was accepted by the Park District in January 2024.
Brian Romes, Executive Director of the Park District of Highland Park, commented on the opening: “We’ve heard from residents for years about the need for more indoor pickleball courts. With Club Pickle & Padel, we’re delivering on that request and creating a destination that will benefit our community for decades to come.”
Club Pickle & Padel offers drop-in play, court bookings, leagues, clinics, special events for all skill levels, as well as membership options with various perks. Equipment rental or purchase is available onsite.
The Park District manages about 800 acres across 44 park areas in Highland Park and operates several facilities including an ice arena, tennis complex, fitness center, nature center, golf course facilities on Lake Michigan beaches (pdhp.org).
