In August, a group of faculty leaders and administrators from Lake Forest College traveled to the University of Bergen to work with colleagues at the Center for Digital Narrative (CDN). The visit is part of activities funded by Lake Forest College’s $1.2 million HUMAN grant from the Mellon Foundation.
This recent collaboration continues to strengthen ties between Lake Forest College and CDN. Scott Rettberg, director of CDN and external assessor for the HUMAN grant, has previously visited Lake Forest both on his own and as part of a delegation that included other scholars and artists from CDN.
Davis Schneiderman, Executive Director of the Krebs Center for the Humanities and Principal Investigator for the HUMAN grant, commented on the significance of this partnership. “Lake Forest’s collaboration with the University of Bergen exemplifies what a liberal arts college can contribute to global conversations on AI,” Schneiderman said. “By combining artistic practice, humanistic critique, and technical fluency, we are helping to shape a future in which AI is understood not only as a controversial tool, but as part of the human story.”
The ongoing relationship highlights Lake Forest College’s engagement at the intersection of humanities, arts, and artificial intelligence.
