Lake Forest Schools have announced that starting this fall, Lake Forest High School will require all students and staff to wear a visible, school-issued ID and lanyard during the school day and while using school transportation.
According to a press release by Lake Forest Schools, IDs are used for security, cafeteria access, bus entry, and school events. Students who forget their ID will receive a temporary one for the day, and lost or damaged IDs can be replaced through the technology office for $10. Noncompliance or defaced IDs may result in disciplinary action, and staff may request ID verification at any time. Temporary IDs are short-term solutions while waiting for replacements.
"The visible ID and lanyard policy is a simple but powerful way to ensure we know who belongs in the building at all times," said Chuck Walsh, director of safety and security. "It strengthens our ability to identify students quickly and is in keeping with best practices across the country."
