Lake Forest Community High School District 115 has announced the appointment of Joe Pettinger as its new physical education teacher, special education paraprofessional, and varsity boys basketball coach.

According to Lake Forest Community High School D115, Pettinger was attracted to the school due to its supportive community and emphasis on student well-being. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with staff to enhance the student experience. Originally from Minnesota, Pettinger brings enthusiasm and leadership to his roles and is also a fan of Kenny Chesney. The school anticipates his contributions in promoting both academic and athletic development for students across the Lake Forest High School (LFHS) community.

"Lake Forest is a strong community that centers around supporting the well-being of the students, which is what inspired me to join Lake Forest High School. I'm excited to work alongside numerous leaders who are motivated to make each day a special one," said Pettinger.

Lake Forest High School, established in 1935, is a public secondary school located in Lake Forest, Illinois, serving grades 9–12. Approximately 95% of its students pursue higher education, supported by personalized instruction and a collaborative school environment. The institution emphasizes mutual respect, high expectations, and a sense of belonging. It serves the communities of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood under the motto "Pursuits become habits," according to Lake Forest Schools.

Lake Forest Community High School District 115 caters to approximately 1,500 students from Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood in grades 9–12. The district offers a variety of academic programs, extracurricular activities, career pathways, and community service opportunities. Its curriculum includes advanced placement courses, specialized electives, athletics access, performing arts opportunities, and various clubs. Feeder schools include Deer Path Middle School, Lake Bluff Middle School, and several private and parochial schools in the area.
