City of Highland Park Firefighters' Pension Board of Trustees met Aug. 12

A special meeting of the Highland Park Firefighters’ Pension Fund Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., at the Highland Park Fire Station Conference Room, 1130 Central Avenue, Highland Park, IL 60035, pursuant to notice.
CALL TO ORDER: Trustee Wilson called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Trustees Jason Noga, Ben Kopin, Kristi McCaulou, Tom Wilson and Ryan Lind
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: Attorney Rick Reimer, Reimer Dobrovolny & LaBardi PC; Attorney Scott Moran, Anesi Ozmon, LTD., Molly Barker and Sara Van Winkle, Lauterbach and Amen, (L&A), Linda Waliczek, Schelli Reporting Service and Lieutenant Kevin Knoll
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
NEW BUSINESS: Certify Board Election Results – Active Member Position: L&A conducted an election for one of the active member positions on the Highland Park Firefighters’ Pension Fund Board of Trustees. Ryan Lind ran unopposed and was elected for a three-year term expiring April 30, 2028. A motion was made by Trustee Kopin and seconded by Trustee Wilson to certify the active member election results. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
President Pro Tempore – Tom Wilson: The Board discussed nominating Trustee Wilson as President Pro Tempore. A motion was made by Trustee Kopin and seconded by Trustee Noga to elect Trustee Wilson as President Pro Tempore. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Kopin and seconded by Trustee Wilson to adjourn the meeting at 10:07 a.m. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
NEW BUSINESS: Reciprocity Hearing – Jason Noga: The Board conducted a hearing for the status of reciprocity for active member Jason Noga. A court reporter was present and took a verbatim transcript.
APPLICATIONS FOR RETIREMENT/DISABILITY BENEFITS: Disability Hearing – Kevin Knoll: The Board conducted a hearing for the status of disability for active member Kevin Knoll. A court reporter was present and took a verbatim transcript.
CLOSED SESSION, IF NEEDED: There was no need for closed session.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for August 21, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.
