Following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, controversy has reached Antioch after a Grass Lake School District #36 employee shared a social media post that many parents say crossed every line of decency.

Cristina Monroy, who serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Grass Lake School, posted on Facebook that she had “absolutely no empathy” for Kirk, calling him “a racist, xenophobic, transphobic, islamophobic, sexist, white nationalist mouthpiece who made millions of dollars inciting hatred in this country.”

She went further, writing: “In this situation, my empathy is reserved for his children. May they grow up to live in a country that is the total opposite of everything their father envisioned.”

Community Reaction

The post quickly circulated online, sparking outrage from Antioch parents and residents.

“An assassination is not a political talking point. It’s murder,” one parent said. “For a school employee — someone sitting in the principal’s office — to publicly gloat about it is shocking.”

Others raised questions of trust.

“Schools are supposed to be safe havens. When staff openly celebrate political violence, how can families believe they will be treated with fairness and respect?” asked another community member.

A Question of Accountability

Every American has the right to free speech. But, as critics point out, free speech does not mean freedom from consequences — especially for public school employees who are expected to set an example for children.

“When you gloat about a man being gunned down in cold blood, you forfeit the privilege of representing a public school,” I said as Republican Committeeman for Antioch 6.

Call for Action

Grass Lake School District #36 now faces a critical test of leadership.

The question is whether its administration and school board will allow Monroy to remain in a position of visibility and trust.Parents, taxpayers, and community members have every right to demand accountability.

A clear message must be sent: celebrating political violence is incompatible with working in our schools.

As a father and community leader, I am calling for Cristina Monroy’s immediate termination.

Anything less is a betrayal of the values Antioch claims to hold.

Our children deserve schools that rise above toxic hate.

The time to act is now.
