Clarke Mosquito is scheduled to conduct a mosquito spraying operation throughout the Village of Vernon Hills on the evening of September 17, weather permitting. The initiative aims to reduce the mosquito population in the area.
Residents who wish to receive advance notice about the spraying can contact the Clarke Mosquito Hotline at 630-671-3100. By providing their name, address, and phone number, residents will be added to the "Prior Notification List" for Vernon Hills and receive a phone call from Clarke on the day of the spray.
The community is also advised to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help prevent mosquito bites. Recommendations include wearing EPA-approved repellents that contain DEET, Picaridin, IR3535, or Oil of Lemon/Eucalyptus; dressing in long pants and long sleeves with light-colored clothing; limiting outdoor activity during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active; and taking measures indoors and outdoors such as using air conditioning or screens, eliminating standing water, keeping grass cut short, emptying items that collect water like buckets or birdbaths, and using fans to deter mosquitoes.
These combined efforts are intended to minimize mosquito-related risks for Vernon Hills residents.
