The Village of Lindenhurst, in collaboration with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO), offers a clothing and textile recycling program to reduce landfill waste and encourage sustainable practices. In 2024, residents of Lindenhurst successfully collected and diverted 38,968 pounds of clothing and textiles. This figure marks an increase of 4,235 pounds compared to the previous year.

This accomplishment places Lindenhurst as the second-highest contributor in SWALCO’s Clothing & Textile Collection program, showcasing the community's dedication to sustainability. The collection boxes for clothing and textiles are conveniently located in the parking lot of Village Hall at 2301 E. Sand Lake Road.

For more details on acceptable items for the collection bins, visit SWALCO's website at https://www.swalco.org/.../Clothing-Textiles-Collection....
