Beginning the week of September 29, crews from Duke’s Root Control, Inc. will conduct an evaluation of the sanitary sewer system and private sewer service laterals in the area. The assessment will use smoke testing, a method where non-toxic, non-flammable liquid smoke is pressurized through sewer mains to identify defects for repair.
According to the announcement, residents will receive pink door tags from Duke’s two to three days before testing begins. These tags provide additional information about the process and how residents can prepare. Presence at home during testing is not required.
Duke’s representatives may need access to manholes within public rights-of-way or utility easements, including those on private property if they fall within these areas. Crews may also document any defects found around properties. The notice states that smoke testing does not affect sewer operations and there will be no disruption of service.
Residents are encouraged to cooperate with crews during this period. All personnel from Duke’s will carry identification badges and wear company uniforms while working.
For questions or concerns, residents can contact Duke’s at (888) 620-0010 or reach out to the Village of Fox River Grove at 224-888-0851.
