United Township High School District 30 announced several upcoming events and opportunities for students this week.
The school cafeteria will serve Chicken Alfredo with a whole grain garlic bread stick, pepperoni calzone, green beans, baby carrots, mixed green salad, and assorted fresh fruit.
A Europe tour is planned for June 2027 to Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia. The trip will focus on classical and traditional music as well as notable architecture and landscapes. An informational session about the tour will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 6:00 pm in the Commons. Students or parents can RSVP by scanning a QR code found in emails or on posters throughout the school. Attendees are eligible for a $200 discount and entry into a raffle for a $500 scholarship. Black Hawk College is hosting Transfer Exploration Night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm tonight. The event targets high school students interested in starting at Black Hawk College before transferring to an Illinois State System school. Topics include transfer guidelines and resources. Students with questions are encouraged to contact their counselor or Mr. Davis.
Freshman IJAG students from Northeast Middle School are reminded that Mr. Looten will meet them tomorrow morning between 7:30 and 8:00 am in the cafeteria area for his quarterly check-in.
Columbia University representatives will visit United Township High School today to discuss academic programs including Computer Science, Engineering, and Neuroscience. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office to meet with Mr. Ian Davis.
Seniors wishing to retake the ACT can do so at UTHS on October 17th by signing up at the counseling office by September 26th; questions can be directed to Mrs. Whitcher.
AP testing sign-ups are ongoing; students enrolled in AP classes should register through their teachers while others may sign up in the counseling office.
There will be an open softball workout after school today from 3:30 to 5:00 pm on the varsity field; questions may be addressed to Coach Alonzo or Coach Tapia.
In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, Hope Club will host an education table during all lunch periods on Thursday, September 25th in the cafeteria to provide information and resources about suicide prevention among teenagers.
Sign-up forms for the Powderpuff game are available in the general office with class shirt colors designated for each grade level.
An informational meeting about joining the speech team will take place Friday, September 26th at 3:15 pm in room 224E; interested students can learn more about competitive events such as public speaking and acting from Mr. Greer.
The Panther Players' fall production featuring three one-act plays—"Wiley and the Hairy Man," "A Jury of Her Peers," and "Any Body for Tea?"—will run from Friday, September 26th through Sunday, September 28th in the auditorium. Student tickets cost $7.
Hope Club invites members for Homecoming preparations today from 3:15 to 5:00 pm in room 189V.

Multicultural Club is presenting Hispanic Heritage Month Spirit Week with themed dress days scheduled for Thursday (Como la flor/Sombrero Day) and Friday (Papel Picado Day).
