Residents in Barrington are advised to prepare for the upcoming fall chipper service. The Village has scheduled the collection of branches and similar yard material on two dates: Monday, October 6 for areas north of Main Street, and Monday, October 13 for those south of Main Street.
All eligible materials should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the designated day. The chipper will make only one pass through each neighborhood. Branches must be at least four feet long and can be up to ten inches in diameter. Residents are asked to stack branches neatly in a long, low pile with cut ends facing the curb. Items such as root balls and stumps are not accepted.
Other types of yard waste that do not meet these criteria should be disposed of using the Groot yard waste container provided by the Village.
The Village notes that “the chipper cannot make passes through each neighborhood after every storm.” Routine yard waste should continue to go into Groot containers since “the chipper will only be sent out twice a year (spring and fall) and after emergencies or major storm events.” The Village states that using Groot containers helps keep service costs down.
