Earlier this year, the Village Board approved an increase to the monthly fixed fee for water and sewer services. The purpose of this rate adjustment is to support future infrastructure projects related to water and sewer systems. Information about upcoming projects funded by the 2024 rate increase can be found on the "Where Your Money Goes" page.

Water used in homes is treated at the Northwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility in Fox Lake before being safely returned to nature. The Village Board’s decision follows a previous rate study conducted in 2018, which was implemented in 2019. That earlier increase funded essential improvements aimed at enhancing reliability and ensuring long-term efficiency of the system.

A total of $9,344,567 from previous rate dollars has been invested in maintaining, upgrading, and modernizing the water and sewer system. Projects made possible through these funds include end-of-life upgrades ($3,463,043), life extension projects ($1,802,360), reliable and redundant water supply improvements ($3,017,100), routine maintenance ($662,344), and technology upgrades ($399,720).

These investments have focused on replacing aging pipes and mains for safety and reliability; maintaining existing infrastructure to extend its lifespan; adding backup sources for uninterrupted service; performing daily maintenance; and modernizing control systems for greater efficiency.

According to village officials: "These improvements ensure safe, reliable water and sewer services today and for future generations."
