State Representative Tom Weber addressed the House floor, urging Democrats to shift their focus from passing non-binding resolutions to supporting his proposed legislation. Weber's bill, the Freedom from Government and Private Collusion Against Free Speech Act, aims to protect free speech regardless of which political party holds power.

Weber stated, "Instead of passing biased non-binding resolutions to score political points, Democrats should support my legislation to create the Freedom from Government and Private Collusion Against Free Speech Act, which would ensure that speech is protected, regardless of the political party in power."

Weber, a Republican, has represented Illinois' 64th House District since 2019. He succeeded Barbara Wheeler in this role.
