FOIA Request to Highland Park Police Department regarding active employee roster on November 13, 2025.

The Lake County Gazette has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Highland Park Police Department. The request seeks access to records that identify all current employees of the department. Specifically, the request asks for any roster, directory, staffing list, payroll record, or personnel summary that includes details such as the name, job title or rank, sex or gender (if available), date of hire or appointment, and age or year of birth (only if this information is included in existing public-facing records).

The request emphasizes the need for electronic format delivery and specifies interest in obtaining the most recent versions of multiple rosters if they exist—such as HR rosters, payroll rosters, sworn-officer rosters, and civilian-staff rosters.

As part of its commitment to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, Lake County Gazette highlights its role in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. The media organization also requests a fee waiver based on its status as a member of the media.

The FOIA request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at their website.

According to a news release from Highland Park's Office of Business Development, commercial burglaries typically target cash rather than valuables or equipment. The city's Police Beat Coordinator program works with business owners to provide safety recommendations tailored to each location. This program also offers similar recommendations for residences.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
