FOIA Request to Gurnee Police Department regarding active employee roster on November 13, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Gurnee Police Department by a representative from Lake County Gazette. The request seeks access to records detailing the current roster of employees within the department. Specifically, the request asks for any available rosters, directories, staffing lists, payroll records, or personnel summaries that identify all current employees.

The information requested includes each employee's name, job title or rank, sex or gender (if included in existing records), date of hire or appointment, and age or year of birth (only if available in public-facing records). If multiple versions of such rosters exist—such as HR rosters, payroll rosters, sworn-officer rosters, and civilian-staff rosters—the most recent version of each is requested.

The requester emphasizes their role as a member of the media in gathering and reporting news to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency. They have also indicated their eligibility for a fee waiver due to their media affiliation. Additionally, the requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
