Prior to thanking Public Works for illuminating the village over the holidays, President Roger Byrne called the Vernon Hills board of trustees meeting to order at 7:09 p.m. Jan. 19 at 290 Evergreen Drive.
Roll call indicated a quorum was established.
Following the Pledge and citizens’ remarks, Nikki Larson was sworn in as finance director/treasurer. Reports were presented by the village’s manager and assistant manager along with the finance director/treasurer who reviewed an Omnibus item regarding a sick leave donation policy for the board.
The chief of police, Public Works director/village engineer and building commissioner gave their reports, followed by approval of Omnibus votes, four department reports, two vouchers and three spring fundraisers.
Endorsement followed on items regarding village staff; golf course salaries and accounts; budget, bond, tax and tax abatement matters; personnel codes; and amendments concerning legal services and ordinance codes.
Additionally, the board approved tree planting, maintenance and surplus equipment policies and reached a settlement in a dispute between the village and a private citizen.
Minutes from the board’s Jan. 5 meeting were approved, and then the board considered unfinished, additional, and new business. After thanking the Public Works department for its efforts in the holiday light show displays, the board adjourned at 7:23 p.m. with no executive session.
