Deerfield Sustainability Commission to focus on recycling innovations

Deerfield citizens are advised that the Sustainability Commission is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Village Hall to review two important infrastructure assessment programs and local special events.

Various participants will offer presentations on energy and water assessments, with commentary on reusable water bottles and a “Greenbean Recycling Machine” by guest speaker Matt Miller.

In ongoing business, the commission will note the discontinuation of SWALCO’s electronic recycling program as of May 1 and hear an update on North Shore Electricity Aggregation Consortium.

Upcoming special events include a Walgreen’s spring cleanup from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, followed by Earth Day events on Saturday, April 23, and Arbor Day on Friday, April 29.

The commission is scheduled to meet in Community Conference Room 206 at Village Hall, located at 850 Waukegan Road. Its next meeting will be confirmed for April 14.
