To review renovation updates pertaining to village facilities, the Round Lake Heights board convened at 7 p.m. March 1 with Mayor Terry Lumpkins.
The mayor reported on quotes for building repair on a Pontiac Street house, revealing that materials and labor would cost approximately the same amount at $14,000 and $14,600, respectively. The figures include a new kitchen, garage, hot water heater, full window replacement and siding.
With painting and carpet excluded from that itemization, Mayor Lumpkins reminded the board that the structure’s HVAC would still need appraisal. After brief discussion of housing sale prices in the area, the board went on to review correspondence and check for committee reports. Clerk Marla McIntyre indicated that newsletters were received from the Illinois Municipal Review.
Announcing that Homes for a Changing Region would sponsor a meeting of local town leaders at noon Thursday in Hainesville, the mayor canvassed board members to gauge interest in attendance; Trustee Anthony Pekar agreed to accompany Lumpkins to the event.
Homes for a Changing Region is an initiative sponsored by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), a government agency responsible for regional planning in the northeastern Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will.
