Highland Park solicits hydrant bids until April 7

Hydrant flushing

Sealed bids for Highland Park’s annual fire hydrant flushing program will be accepted at the Public Works Department until 11 a.m. April 7, when all bids will be opened, read aloud and publicly posted.

The city advises all interested parties that bid packages may be obtained at no cost, either directly from the Public Works Department located at 1150 Half Day Road, via e-mail at lroberts@cityhpil.com or by phoning 847-926-1189.

The job involves testing and operating as many as 850 fire hydrants and documenting all test information in a database.

Each proposal must bear an original ink signature on the city-supplied form and be paid with either a cashier’s or certified check in an amount that is equivalent to at least “the percent of the Total Bid Amount as stated in the ‘Contract Bid Security Limits’ in the Bid Docs,” the city said.

Bidders are highly encouraged to examine the entire bid package before submitting documents and ask questions to clarify any areas of concern.

Highland Park officials stated that late bids cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Questions may be addressed to Lisa Roberts, contract specialist, at the above phone number or to Ron Bannon, deputy director of Public Works, at 847-926-1146.
