An upcoming clinic will give Lake County residents the chance to obtain low-cost vaccines and identification for their canine and feline friends in Vernon Hills.
Sponsored through the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center's Animal Care and Control Program, the clinic offers a convenient and affordable way for Lake County pet owners to keep their furry friends’ health up to date with shots and rabies tags.
From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 23, the program will team up with the Vernon Hills Police Department for a clinic at the Vernon Hills Public Works Building, 490 Greenleaf Drive, in Vernon Hills. Additionally, 4-H will provide pet-nail trims in return for donations.
The Health Department advises citizens that the event will be cash-only. Pets will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis and must be leashed (dogs) or placed in carriers (cats); proof of spay/neuter may be required.
Costs are as follows: For spayed/neutered pets, a one-year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag cost $20, a one-year rabies vaccination and tag plus a distemper shot cost $25, a distemper shot alone is $10 and a microchip is $15.
For pets that have not been spayed or neutered, a one-year rabies vaccination and Lake County tag costs $60, a one-year rabies vaccination with tag plus distemper costs $65, distemper complex only is $10 and a microchip is $15.
The Animal Care and Control facility is located at 18736 West Peterson Road in Libertyville.
