Grayslake Police Department to hold CALEA reaccreditation meeting today

Police patch

The Grayslake Police Department will hold a public information session at 6 p.m. today at Village Hall, 10 S. Seymour Ave., to accept public comments on its professional standards as part of a self-assessment aimed at maintaining accreditation standards.

The village is conducting the on-site evaluation as part of compliance measures to extend its accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

CALEA, based in Virginia, mandates that member agencies fulfill over 400 individual requirements in four essential areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

All civil servants and Grayslake residents are invited to submit questions and concerns. Comments also can be called in at 847-986-3200 1-3 p.m. today, when the assessment team will be accepting calls. Callers and meeting attendees should limit their remarks to 10 minutes and focus on the department's compliance with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available for view at the Grayslake Police Department, 10 S. Seymour Ave., as well as at the meeting today.

Written comments can be mailed to CALEA, 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.
