The youth-basketball early-bird registration deadline for the Vernon Hills Park District is Oct. 18, according to the program guide on vhparkdistrict.org.
Players will be contacted on Oct. 21, with the skill day set for Nov. 21, and practices starting Nov. 28.
Practices will take place at various schools and last one to two hours apiece. Practice schedules will be set by the coaches.
Seasons in the leagues for grades 3-4 and 5-6 will last 12 games. Games will start in mid-December. For the league for grades 7-8, the season lasts 10 games starting in mid-December and will have an end-of-season tournament. All games will be played on weekends.
Coaches will form teams through a draft.
Fees through Oct. 18 are $133 for residents and $166 for nonresidents. After Oct. 18, fees are $183 and $216, respectively.
