The calls in Waukegan included 297 fires - 123 structure fires, 53 vehicle fires and 102 other fires. The fire department also responded to 19 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $1,073,515 in fire loss - or about $3,615 per fire.
The department also received one false call, including 101 malicious calls and 976 other false calls.
The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
The Waukegan Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 117 active employees and 123 retired or inactive employees, was $5,615,544 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $18,908 for every fire in 2016.
