V. PUBLIC COMMENT. Terry Skriba gave an update on MCC events and activities including the Craft Beer Festival, which will take place on June 9th. It was noted during the public commentary that EDC member Daniel Juarez had submitted a letter of resignation.

VI. BUSINESS APPRECIATION BREAKFAST. The group discussed the recent Business Appreciation Breakfast, including what went well and what did not. The program ran over the allotted time, likely due to some presentations accommodated after the schedule was set. The group agreed that the event was a success and EDC members were complimentary of the speakers. An extended conversation was had about the management of the business showcase booths. Trustee Abernathy and Commissioner Silver commented that there was confusion at this year’s event surrounding prioritization of booths. The primary concern involved reports that the MBA, who managed the booths, gave priority to MBA members and in some cases denied Mundelein businesses a booth if they were not a member of the MBA. Casey Cline, as a member of both the MBA and EDC, volunteered to manage the booths at next year’s event. The EDC was generally in concurrence that Mundelein businesses should be the priority when assigning booths because the event is paid for by the EDC.

A new event idea was proposed regarding the potential for a Mexican Independence Day community event. Several members agreed to explore the idea further and will provide follow up details if applicable to the EDC. Trustee Abernathy volunteered to lead this discussion with the Mundelein Community Connection.

VII. APPOINTMENT – EDC VICE CHAIR. There was a brief discussion regarding the need to select a Vice Chair. There was no quorum to make a motion. Chairman Gallas indicated he would nominate Laurie MacKay.

VIII. EDC MEMBER ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES. There was a brief discussion regarding where members can volunteer to accomplish EDC Goals and Objectives. Larry Gallas noted that Yossi Bonomo has volunteered to head new business development/recruitment. Larry also noted that Tim Wilson has volunteered to explore possible avenues for engaging the local schools. Casey Cline volunteered to take a lead on new business outreach and site visits. Laurie MacKay will continue to lead planning efforts on EDC events for brokers and the Business Appreciation Breakfast.

IX. SPRING BROKERS/DEVELOPERS EVENT. Laurie MacKay will begin planning the Spring Brokers event. The Main Street Realtor Association contacted Amanda with the potential of co-sponsoring the event.

X. VILLAGE REPORT. Staff gave the EDC an update on current Village activities including the ULI Technical Assistance Panel Review of the Townline Corridor, the North Lake Enhancement Program, and the Metra North Central Service Corridor Study.

XI. NEW BUSINESS LIST/REPORT. There was a brief discussion about who will coordinate site visits. Casey Cline will coordinate new business site visits. Taylor Wegrzyn presented a spreadsheet of all the site visits conducted by the EDC since its inception and requested any missing visits. Laurie MacKay inquired whether it would be beneficial to make a form available for those who wish to request a site visit.

XII. NEXT MEETING. The next meeting of the Economic Development Commission will be March 22, 2018 at 7:30 A.M. at Village Hall, 300 Plaza Circle, Mundelein, IL 60060.
