59th House District candidate Feldman highlights need for property-tax relief in Illinois

Vote6(1000)

Karen Feldman has a simple plan for ushering Illinois into a new and more responsible era of operation.

“In order to recruit families and business back to our state, Illinois needs property tax relief,” Feldman, running against Daniel Didech to replace retiring Rep. Carol Sente (D-Vernon Hills) in the 59th House District, posted on her website.

“Illinois has the highest property taxes in the nation,” her website states. “Families and businesses have been fleeing the state at a rapid pace. We need to restore confidence with our constituents that they will not have to fear being taxed out of their home.”

With her children attending public schools in the 59th District, Feldman also argues that ZIP codes should not be the barometer to determine educational success or opportunities.

“We need a leader in Springfield who is fighting for our school dollars to stay in the district,” her campaign also notes on her website.

At the same time, Feldman is a strong supporter of vocational training, insisting that a system is put in place for students who do not attend college to learn a skill and build a career.

“Illinois needs representatives who will bring ethical and accountable government to Springfield,” her website says. “We need advocates who will continue to put people over politics at a time when Illinois needs it most.”

Feldman has said that her run for Springfield is motivated by her memories of how the state once operated.

"Karen is passionate about restoring Illinois to what it used to be – a place where companies and families moved to for a better and brighter future,” her campaign highlights on its website.

Finally, Feldman is in favor of term limits and has pledged to refuse the state legislative pension.

A graduate of DePaul University, the 49-year-old works in real estate and resides in Lincolnshire with her husband, Jeffrey, and their three children.
