Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District responded to 221 calls in 2017 - 27.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Barrington-Countryside included 29 fires - eight structure fires, two vehicle fires and 19 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $4,364,500 in fire loss - or about $150,500 per fire.

The department also received 191 false calls.
