HIGHLAND PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT: First National Night Out Community Celebration on Aug 7

Police 03

Highland Park Police Department issued the following announcement on July 16.

The City of Highland Park Police Department, in partnership with area not-for-profits, invites the community to join the City’s first National Night Out Celebration on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM on the front lawn of City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Ave. and the adjacent Hazel parking lot (corner of St. Johns and Hazel). The event is free and open to the public.

National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday in August in cities nationwide effort to build bonds between neighbors, police officers, and firefighters, and to raise awareness about drug use prevention and public safety. Crime prevention and public safety organizations will be in attendance. A variety of family-friendly activities planned include a petting zoo, touch-a-truck, face painting, a donut eating contest, a DUI simulator, bounce house, dunk tank (dunk a cop and other City staff), music, snacks and more.

“National Night Out is an opportunity for the City of Highland Park to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity,” said Police Chief Lou Jogmen. “The event also allows police-community partnerships to form and grow, and encourages residents to take an active role in public safety.”

The City of Highland Park Police Department asks that residents throughout the community turn on their porch lights through the evening on August 7 to show support for National Night Out.
