The district transferred one students to another program instead of suspending or expelling them.
According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 3,558 students during the year. That equates to 21.6 percent of the 16,478 students enrolled.
Students were expelled for two incidents with violence without physical injury and two incidents with unspecified reasons.
Of the 2,125 in-school suspensions, 1,494 were given to boys and 631 were given to girls, including 1,143 elementary or middle schoolers and 982 high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 1,520 incidents. There were 532 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 1,993 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 1,429 out-of-school suspensions, 983 were given to boys and 446 were given to girls, including 1,031 elementary or middle schoolers and 398 high schoolers.
