The price of local government in 2017: Village of Volo

The Village of Volo budget was $5.48 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's an increase of 19.9 percent from 2016, when the village spent $4.57 million.

Volo has a population of 5,399.

Since 2001, the Village of Volo budget has grown by 329.8 percent, from $1.27 million. The village population has grown 1442.6 percent over the same period, from 350.

Salaries accounted for 7.3 percent of village spending in 2017. Volo property taxpayers paid $400,176 for six full-time employees, or an average of $66,696 each, before their health care benefits and taxpayer-funded pension contributions.

In 2001, the village had one full-time employee and two part-time employees, and spent $55,748.
