Former state university employee Lauren Lopresti, who retired in September 2016, saved $233,582 toward a pension over 36 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Lopresti would collect as much as $6.63 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Lake County Gazette.

After 2 years of retirement, Lopresti will have already received $282,751 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
