Village of Cary Committee of the Whole met May 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

I. Call to Order 

This meeting was called to order at 7:51 p.m. by Mayor Kownick.

II. Roll Call 

Present: Mayor Kownick, Trustees McAlpine, Covelli, Weinhammer, Kraus and Collier Absent: Trustee Betz

Others present included Village Administrator Rife, Community Development Director Simmons, Public Works Director Morimoto, Management Analyst Sage, Village Attorney Uhler and members of the audience per the sign-in sheet.

III. Pledge of Allegiance 

Mayor Kownick led in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

IV. Public Comments 

There being no comments from the public, Mayor Kownick closed Public Comments at 7:52 p.m.

V. Discussion Regarding Refuse Collection Contract 

Director Morimoto stated the current refuse contract with Advanced Disposal expires November 20. Director Morimoto and Management Analyst Sage provided an overview of the current refuse contract with Advanced Disposal and potential changes in the scope of services for an upcoming Request for Proposal.

VI. Executive Session:

Litigation: Pending or Imminent 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11)

Closed Session Minutes, Review 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21)

Mayor Kownick entertained a motion to enter into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Litigation: Pending or Imminent, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11) and Personnel: Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance or Dismissal of Specific Employees, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) and Closed Session Minutes, Review, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21).

Motion:

Trustee McAlpine moved, seconded by Trustee Collier to adjourn into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Litigation, Pending or Imminent, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11) and Closed Session Minutes, Review, 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21).

Ayes: Nays:

Ayes by voice vote Trustee Kraus

Motion Carried.

Mayor Kownick and Trustees Covelli, Weinhammer, Kraus, McAlpine and Collier entered into Executive Session at 8:15 p.m. Others present included Village Administrator Rife, Director Simmons, Director Morimoto and Village Attorney Scott Uhler.

After discussion, Mayor Kownick entertained a motion to exit Executive Session.

Motion: Trustee Weinhammer moved, seconded by Trustee McAlpine to exit Executive Session at 9:10  p.m.

Ayes: All ayes by voice vote 

Nays: None

Motion Carried.

VII. Adjourn

There being no further items to discuss, a MOTION was made to adjourn the meeting at 9:11 p.m.

MOTION: Trustee McAlpine

SECOND: Trustee Collier

The Voice Vote noted all ayes and the motion carried.
