Republican Candidate for the 51st district of the Illinois House of Representatives Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) says Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s recent state address was “more of the same” and offered little in the way of new policies that will boost the state’s economy, tackle mounting debt and restore people’s trust in their government.

“Today, we heard more of the same from Springfield: more taxes, more spending money we don’t have and more driving families and business out of our state,” Ela Township trustee Bos said in a press release, adding that leadership is what the people in his district need most.

Pritzker delivered the State of the State speech in Springfield on Wednesday and spoke on the need for the state to fight hard to tackle corruption.

“Restoring the public’s trust is of paramount importance," Pritzker said during his address. “Let’s not let the well-connected and well-protected work the system while the interests of ordinary citizens are forgotten. There is too much that needs to be accomplished to lift up all the people of Illinois.”

Pritzker has proposed a graduated income tax rate to replace the state's current flat-rate income tax. Bos says he would work to improve the state’s business climate and cut spending if elected to the House.

“As the representative for the 51st District, I won’t forget who I work for – the people of our district,” he said. “I will work tirelessly to encourage economic growth, force Springfield to live within its means, and clean up Illinois.”

Bos has called out his November opponent, state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen (D-Libertyville), for being part of the [Democratic Illinois House Speaker Mike] “Madigan Machine” and not living up to her campaign promises.

Bos has worked extensively in the non-profit sector and served as a pastor for nearly two decades. He has served as a trustee with Ela Township since 2017.
