Commissioners’ Discussion
The following Advisory Board report was given to the Board:
• AC members are taking their Open Meetings Act training.
• Judy Freeman is working on revising the rental agreement.
• AC recommends the Board approve the rental for the BraveHearts Trail Ride on June 16, 2020.
• Benbury Carstensen will begin painting of the “historic-logos” door in the spring.
• Sally Robinson will purchase and install a thermometer for the indoor arena.
• The AC will ask Pony Club if they will share their portable cross-country jumps with the public. Jump for Joy Co. sells portable jumps if the Board chooses to purchase the jumps.
• The mini horse show rental application will be sent to the Advisory Committee for their review and recommendation.
• There is a consensus that the indoor arena footing is improving.
• A request that the Board should consider posting a sign in the outdoor arena that horses should not be allowed to run loose in the arena as the fence height is low.
• The public should contact Kim Keper to report rules infractions. She will contact the Commissioners if necessary.
There was a discussion of three proposed re-locations of the round pen and paddocks and public comments received. There also was further discussion of expanding the indoor arena or renting land from the forest preserve.
There is a request from a resident, as per Jessica Underwood, to have a sign installed at the Riding Center and placed under a tree, in remembrance of a resident’s horse. The cost for the sign will be paid for by the resident. The board is willing to consider installing a sign as long as the Board’s approves its design and placement.
