ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 62: Yingling Highlights Scholarship Opportunity for Women

62

Illinois State House District 62 issued the following announcement on May 1

State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is promoting the Conference of Women Legislators (COWL) Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to women over the age of 25 who are planning to attend an accredited school in Illinois.

“With college becoming more and more expensive, scholarship opportunities such as this one are critical for many to be able to attend college,” Yingling said. “As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause downturns in the economy, the COWL Scholarship is more important than ever to help Illinois residents get a quality education. I highly encourage any woman over the age of 25 who is planning to attend college this fall to consider applying for this scholarship.”

The COWL Scholarship is a one-year undergraduate scholarship that covers tuition and other expenses up to $2,500 for the 2020-2021 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to ten women who are over the age of 25, Illinois residents, and are taking six or more semester hours. Applications are due on May 1. For more information or to apply, please visit the application page at https://cowl.formstack.com/forms/20202021_cowl_scholarship_application.

“Supporting our students getting a higher education is an important investment for our state,” Yingling said. “I applaud the Conference of Women Legislators for awarding these scholarships, and I look forward to finding more ways to help our students going forward.”
