Veteran Illinois state Rep. David McSweeney (R-Barrington Hills) is on a mission to save the state from itself, and to help those needing relief from the financial burden of continual tax hikes.
“Businesses are suffering and families are being forced out of Illinois because of endless tax hikes,” McSweeney said. “Illinois families need a tax cut. As chairman of Cut Illinois Taxes Now, I’m fighting for the tax relief that we all need.”
With Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) now looking for ways to offset the loss of revenue he was expecting, prior to his progressive tax plan he was promoting went up in flames, McSweeney knows he has his work cut out.

“Illinois families are in need of tax relief, but Gov. Pritzker keeps trying to raise our taxes,” McSweeney said. “When will it end? Instead of raising taxes, as chairman of Cut Illinois Taxes Now, I’m fighting to cut property tax levies and enact real public employee pension reform.”
McSweeney argues for the cash-strapped state to have any chance of getting back on the right track Springfield has to immediately get its act together.
“Businesses are suffering and families are being forced out of Illinois because of endless tax hikes,” McSweeney said. “We need to break Springfield’s endless cycle of overspending and subsequent tax hikes.”
Set to leave office early next year after serving nearly eight years as the face of the 52nd District, McSweeney is vowing to keep up his crusade all the way to the end.
“I’m proud to be part of stopping Gov. Pritzker’s endless tax hikes,” McSweeney said. “I’ll always stay vigilant looking out for you and every Illinois family.”
The 52nd District includes Cook, Lake, McHenry and Kane counties and includes Cary and Barrington, with McSweeney part of the House’s Government Consolidation and Modernization, Personnel and Pensions, Revenue and Finance and State Government Administration committees.
