Q3 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Lake County?

There were 99 offenders released on parole during the third quarter of 2020 that live in Lake County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Lake County Gazette.

The data shows that 91 men and eight women were released in Lake County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 37. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2019, and the oldest was a 64-year-old man sentenced for a financial crime or fraud in 2020.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Dylan Metzel. He was convicted of homicide in 1994 when he was 20 years old. He is now 46.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
