Time to dust off the fishing rod.
The spring trout fishing season is quickly approaching.
The Illinois Spring Trout Fishing “has announced the 2021 season will open [Saturday] April 3 at 57 ponds, lakes and streams throughout the state,” Rep. Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) said in a March 11 Facebook post.
Two-weeks before then, on March 20, residents will have an early opportunity to select trout sites as part of the Catch-and-Release Fishing Season. No trout may be kept during the catch and release fishing period. Anglers can begin keeping trout after the season officially opens on April 3.
Now serving his second term as the face of the 64th District, Weber sits on the House’s Appropriations-Human Services, Consumer Protection, Judiciary-Civil, Labor& Commerce and Transportation: Regulation, Roads& Bridges committee.
Weber won reelection in November against Democrat Leslie Armstrong-McLeod with nearly 60% of the vote.
