Famed "Right Here Waiting" singer Richard Marx’s running feud with top Republican lawmakers only appears to be gaining speed.
“I’ll say it again: If I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume,” Marx recently posted on Twitter shortly before U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) received an envelope containing a white powder and a threat in the mail.
Paul's neighbor had attacked the senator in 2017, breaking several of his ribs.
Marx has also raged against President Trump on Twitter, causing some of the former president’s supporters to wonder how his Twitter account has managed to stay intact when they’re left to feel like so many from the right are constantly being targeted.
The tweet has some asking about Twitter's hate policy.
"Despicable behavior! After this tweet, an envelope filled with white powder arrived at @RandPaul’s home in KY. The FBI is investigating. This idiot glorifies violence and is allowed to continue his hatred on @Twitter?" Sergio Gor tweeted.
Some argue Marx’s posted rantings against now-former President Donald Trump have been even more hate-filled.
He has not been shy in his distaste for Trump.
“I feel this guy is a despicable piece of trash. The country will recover, even if he’s in for another four years. We will recover, but we will never be the same. He will leave a s— stain on this country for the next generation. He has no redeeming qualities. At this point, I’d rather have Jeffrey Dahmer over Donald Trump,” Marx said.
Marx is from Highland Park where he wrote his first songs at Highland Park High School.
Perhaps best known for his career as a pop artist in the late 1980s and early '90s Marx's star has fallen somewhat in recent years.
After years of effort and multiple price reductions, Marx recently sold his Lake Bluff mansion for $4.2 million.
Marx divorced his wife of 25 years and married Daisy Fuentes in 2015.
