Report: Zion School District spent $17,342 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Zion Elementary School District 6 was up 56.3 percent from five years ago, according to the Lake County Gazette analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Lake County school district spent $11,093 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $17,342 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 2,773 to 2,483 students over the same period.

Zion's spending in 2019-20 was 19.7 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
