Lake County Energy & Environment Committee met Nov. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Call to Order

Chair Wilke called the meeting to order at 10:32 a.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance

Member Hunter led the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Roll Call of Members

6. Chair's Remarks

Chair Wilke thanked the Committee for all their hard work this fiscal year and noted that he would like the Committee to focus on more collective issues in the future in order to affect big change.

There was no unfinished business to discuss.

8.1 22-1632

Committee action approving the Energy and Environment Committee minutes from October 5, 2022.

A motion was made by Member Hewitt, seconded by Member Wasik, that these minutes be approved. The motion carried by the following voice vote:

Aye: 6 - Member Altenberg, Member Hewitt, Member Hunter, Vice Chair Parekh, Member Wasik and Chair Wilke

Absent: 1 - Member Barr

REGULAR AGENDA

8.2 22-1629

Presentation & discussion regarding the Single Use Plastic Prohibition. Matt Meyers, Assistant County Administrator, introduced Robin Grooms, Sustainability Programs Manager. Ms. Grooms gave an overview of the County's single use plastics prohibition, to begin on January 1, 2023, and provided the Committee with information regarding the remaining single use plastic items in vending machines and other food service operations located at various County buildings.

Ms. Grooms also provided the Committee with the staff recommendation on how to proceed with the snack machines and cafeteria/coffee kiosk operations pertaining to the single use plastics policy. Discussion ensued.

The consensus of the Committee was to continue with the staff recommendation. Discussion ensued.

Assistant County Administrator Meyers thanked Ms. Grooms and all department heads and vendors for their work on the single use plastics project. The Committee echoed their thanks.

Update on Committee Workplan.

Vice Chair Parekh left the meeting at 11:14 a.m.

Robin Grooms, Sustainability Programs Manager, provided updates regarding the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) Program, solar installation projects, and the Lake County tree initiative.

Eric Waggoner, Planning, Building and Development Director, provided additional information regarding the Lake County tree initiative. Discussion ensued.

9. County Administrator's Report

There was no County Administrator's Report.

10. Executive Session

The Committee did not enter into Executive Session.

11. Members' Remarks

Member Wasik thanked Chair Wilke for his hard work leading the Committee.

Member Hunter echoed his thanks and noted that he has noticed an increase in solar panel installations.

Member Altenberg stated that she is proud of the work of this Committee and echoed her thanks to Chair Wilke.

12. Adjournment

Chair Wilke declared the meeting adjourned at 11:27 a.m.
