The Lake Forest Soccer Association was recently celebrated by the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce.
"Lake Forest Soccer Association (LFSA) is proud to be a locally based, premier travel soccer club serving the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff community for over 30 years,” the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce said on Facebook. “At the helm for the better part of those years has been beloved Director of Coaching, Oktay Akgun. It is our pleasure to introduce Coach Oktay and share more about this wonderful, longstanding community youth organization in our latest Chamber Member Spotlight!”
Lake Forest Soccer Association is holding camps for players in June and July. The session 1 camp will be held from June 19-22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The session 2 camp will be held July 10-13 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. Both camps cost $275 per player. The Young Scouts Camp, ideal for boys and girls born 2016-2018, will be held June 12-14 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. each day. It costs $125.
The camps are held to teach children basic and advanced soccer skills in a fun, structured environment. They will be taught by professional coaches and will be divided by age and skill level. According to its website, "The camps will focus on skill-specific drills, technical training, and fun activities. All activities and training are run by our USSF licensed coaches in a safe and supervised environment.”
The professional coaches are licensed by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and are under the direction of Oktay Akgun, Director of Coaching. The professional coaching staff has trained and developed players who have gone on to play soccer for their high schools, colleges, USA National, and World Cup teams. More than 80% of the Lake Forest High School girls’ and boys’ varsity soccer players were developed by LFSA. LSFA players are consistently selected for the Olympic Development Program on a regional, state, and national level.
