Village of Antioch Police and Fire Commission met April 4
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
I. Call to order
A meeting of the Police and Fire Commission was called to order at State Bank of The Lakes, 440 Lake St. Antioch, IL 60002 at 4:02 PM on Tuesday April 4, 2023.
II. Roll Call
Antioch Police Commission conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Jim Kinney, Michael Volling, Julie Nellessen (telephonically) and Jenny Olsen. Also in attendance was Antioch Police Chief Geoff Guttschow.
III. Approval of Meeting Minutes: A motion was made by Commissioner Volling and seconded by Commissioner Nellessen to approve the meeting minutes from February 23, 2023 and March 7, 2023. The motion passed unanimously.
IV. New Business
a. New Hire List
1.Review of background check for hew hire candidate: A motion was made by Commissioner Kinney and seconded by Commissioner Volling to move to executive session at 4:04 PM. The regular portion of the Antioch Police and Fire Commission resumed at 4:09 PM.
2.Approval of conditional offer for new hire candidate: A motion was made by Commissioner Volling and seconded by Commissioner Nellessen to present a conditional offer of employment to candidate Van Jacobs subject to satisfactory completion of all preliminary testing. The motion passed unanimously.
3.Scheduling of oral interviews for additional new hire candidates: The commission and Chief Guttschow engaged in a discussion about the remainder of the New Hire List and whether oral interviews should commence for people on the list or if a resolution should be drafted to strike the remainder of the list and start establishing a new list. The decision was tabled until the next commission meeting.
b. Sergeant’s Promotional List Chief Guttschow requested that the agenda items pertaining to the Sergeant’s Promotion List be postponed until the next commission meeting.
V. Adjournment
A motion was made by Commissioner Nellessen and seconded by Commissioner Volling to adjourn the meeting of the Antioch Police Commission at 4:20 PM.
Executive Session
I. Call to order
A meeting of the Executive Session of the Police and Fire Commission was called to order at State Bank of The Lakes, 440 Lake St. Antioch, IL 60002 at 4:04 PM on Tuesday April 4, 2023.
II. Roll Call
Antioch Police Commission conducted a roll call. The following persons were present: Jim Kinney, Michael Volling, Julie Nellessen (telephonically) and Jenny Olsen. Also in attendance was Antioch Police Chief Geoff Guttschow.
III. New Business:
a. New Hire List
1.Review of background check for new hire candidate: Chief Guttschow presented the background check on new hire candidate Noah Van Jacobs. The commission review the background check and had no questions.
VI. Adjournment
A motion was made by Commissioner Nellessen and seconded by Commissioner Volling to adjourn the Executive Session of the Antioch Police Commission at 4:09 PM.
