Lake Forest resident, Jim Carris, has officially joined the race for the 10th Congressional seat, submitting his petitions in Springfield for the March 2024 primary election.
“We officially filed our petitions in Springfield to run against Brad Schneider in 2024!” Carris said on Facebook.
“The overwhelming support that my campaign has received in the 3 months since announcing my candidacy has been humbling. It is clear that the families of the 10th Congressional District are hungry for a new leader that will be independent and work to find real policy solutions for Americans based on logic, compassion, and common sense.”
The Daily Herald reported Carris’s filing, highlighting the growing list of congressional candidates competing to represent the North, West, or Northwest suburbs. With the submission completed on the final day for petition entries, Carris, unless facing challenges, secures a spot on the primary ballot scheduled for March 19.
The upcoming primary is significant for Illinois voters as it involves selecting local representatives and participating in the nomination process for presidential candidates from both Democratic and Republican parties. Furthermore, this primary will determine who will represent Illinois at party conventions scheduled for August.

It covers the municipalities of Antioch, Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Grayslake, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Waukegan, Highland Park, North Chicago, Park City, Lake Forest, Gurnee, Zion, Libertyville, Round Lake, Round Lake, and Round Lake Beach in Lake County, the communities of communities of Winnetka, Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northbrook, and Wheeling in Cook County and the municipalities of Spring Grove, Richmond, Hebron, Wonder Lake, and Johnsburg in McHenry County.
