Former Lake Forest Caucus member: Lake Forest mayoral race was ‘not what we were expecting’

Jake Weisser, a former Lake Forest resident and caucus committee member, said the caucus committee vote that occurred to discern support for the mayoral candidates Prue Beidler and Randy Tack was not the process that it should have been. Beidler faced Randy Tack in Lake Forests’ first contested race in years, which resulted in Tack’s election earlier this year.

“I was there that night when we had the quote unquote vote at the Gordon center,” Weisser told hosts Pete Jansons and Joe Weiss on the Lake Forest podcast. “And you know, during that process, reading some of the things that people had written in on those - I'll call them ballots - but those slips of paper, they were very unkind.”

“People took the liberty to write an essay about what they thought of the caucus and the process and why Prue Beidler should be the nominee instead of Randy Tack,” Weisser said. “It started out as maybe slightly amusing and then it quickly spiraled into wow this is really a problem, this is not what we were expecting.”

The podcast covers topics and politics impacting the area around the city of Lake Forest, according to the Lake Forest podcast website.
