Mundelein residents rank 81st in total sales taxes paid in Illinois for May

Mundelein taxpayers ranked 81st in total sales taxes paid per municipality in May, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Mundelein residents paid $939,234 in sales taxes during May.

Mundelein ranked 82nd in the Prairie State the month before, with $975,184 spent in sales taxes.

The Municipal Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Mundelein residents in May.

In Illinois, Municipal Sales Taxes, typically set at 1%, are combined with the state sales tax of 5% and a county tax of 0.25%, resulting in a total state tax rate of 6.25%.
