City of North Chicago Economic Development/Planning/Zoning Committee met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Alderman Smith called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Jackson, Coleman, Allen, Smith, Murphy

Absent: Evans, January

I. DISCUSSION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/PLANNING/ZONING DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT:

There was no discussion.

II. DISCUSSION OF AMENDMENT TO SAFEBUILT AGREEMENT:

Economic & Community Development Director Taylor Wegrzyn explained were in the last step for SafeBuilt Agreement Amendment in consolidating to one contract.

Alderman Allen questioned clarification of the Building Code Enforcers; Mr. Wegrzyn explained SafeBuilt were providing building inspections as needed; at this time, he was short staffed; seeking to hire a Building Division Manager to oversee code enforcement; also hiring another Code Enforcement Officer/Inspector. There was a 2-wk window with permits currently. SafeBuilt was additionally assisting in the interim.

Alderman Allen requested that their office staff explain the temporary situation to the callers.

Alderman Allen moved, seconded by Alderman Murphy that the Economic Development/Planning/Zoning Committee Meeting stand adjourned.
