Lake Forest podcast hosts: Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering 'blew it with her own people in Highland Park'

The podcast host said that Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering was seen eating at a local restaurant in Lake Forest just days after she caused problems for a small business owner within her own city.

“I think Nancy blew it with her own people in Highland Park.” Joe Weiss told host Jansons on the Lake Forest podcast. “Last Friday Night, Highland Park mayor Nancy Rotering was observed by two people in a restaurant here in Lake Forest,”

“I'm sure mayor Randy Tack has dined in restaurants outside of Lake Forest so I don't want to make it a purity thing,” Weiss said. “I just find the irony that in the same week she's screwing over a small business owner in her own city, she's spending money dining at a restaurant in Lake Forest.”

The February 17 edition of the podcast focused on the conflict between Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering and Ravinia Brewing's owner, Jeff Hoobler.

Hoobler filled a position on the Highland Park city council, however there was conflict over this fact since Highland Park ordinances prohibit the city from approving a liquor license for a city official. After Hoobler was elected, Rotering approved his liquor license renewal, and then placed two items on a city council agenda: one to confirm the city policy against officials being able to hold a liquor license, and one to amend the policy. When the vote took place during a council meeting, Hoobler recused himself and left the room.
