As the holiday weekend approaches, Illinois State Senator Dan McConchie extends his wishes for a Happy 4th of July. "I hope you and your family are able to partake in some of the many parades, festivals, and fireworks happening in our area," he stated. He also mentioned his attendance at the Hawthorn Woods fireworks event at Hawthorn Woods Community Park.

Senator McConchie announced that one of his bipartisan bills was signed into law this past Monday. SB2751 will waive permitting fees for disabled veterans looking to modify their homes. "This will help to alleviate the burden on those who have given so much of themselves in service to our country," he explained.

Additionally, Senator McConchie is hosting a free Shred/Recycling Event next Saturday, July 13th, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the parking lot of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Zurich. The event provides an opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted documents, old electronics, bicycles, glasses, and more.

Senator McConchie expressed his enthusiasm about being back in the district this summer and looks forward to seeing constituents at upcoming events. He encourages feedback and questions from residents as their voices guide his work.

In collaboration with Representative Stephanie A. Kifowit (D-Aurora), Senator McConchie sponsored legislation aimed at supporting Illinois’ disabled veterans. Signed into law on July 1st as Public Act 103-0621 (SB2751), this legislation waives permit fees for disabled veterans needing home modifications for accessibility.

"Disabled veterans already face significant challenges when it comes to home renovations," stated Sen. Dan McConchie, a Veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. "This legislation ensures they are not burdened with extra costs from city permit fees."

For any feedback or inquiries, Senator McConchie welcomes contact through his office.
