In response to the September 18, 2024 vote by Brad Schneider and 157 Democrats in Congress against the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, Jim Carris issued a statement expressing his concerns.

“Brad Schneider’s vote against the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act shows a blatant lack of common sense and compassion for victims of crime, particularly women,” said Carris. He emphasized that this decision is particularly disheartening for a district "filled with intelligent and independent women who deserve unwavering support on all issues."

Carris criticized Schneider for siding with what he termed "the far left," arguing that such alignment neglects the urgent need to protect communities affected by illegal immigration.

“Unlike Brad Schneider, I support an immediate closure of the southern border, swift immigration reform, and robust law enforcement. I will push for measures that prevent crimes against women and ensure harsh penalties for offenders,” Carris stated. He called for leadership that prioritizes safety and accountability over partisan loyalty, advocating for someone who "truly stands with the women of the 10th District."
