The Illinois Conservation Foundation has introduced the Illinois Outdoor Excellence Awards to recognize significant contributions to conservation and outdoor recreation in the state. The awards aim to honor both individuals and organizations that have made notable impacts.
This year's awards will be divided into four categories. The "Outdoor Writer/Author of the Year" award acknowledges exceptional writing that highlights Illinois' natural beauty and resources. The "Outdoor Volunteer Organization of the Year" category is for organizations whose volunteer work has led to measurable conservation and restoration achievements statewide. The "Outdoor Business/Business Owner of the Year" award celebrates businesses showing leadership in promoting conservation within their communities. Lastly, the "Outdoor Influencer of the Year" category recognizes digital content creators who engage audiences in outdoor activities and environmental stewardship through online platforms.
Nominations are currently open to the public and can be submitted online until October 31, 2024.
